Duncan Lewis is pleased to announce the recent Director appointment of Commercial litigation lawyer Sobashni De Silva, and the arrivals of Clinical Negligence / Personal Injury specialist, Katarina Santos-Brazell and Employment Solicitor Carol van den End to the company’s civil litigation practice.
Newly appointed Director of Litigation, Sobashni de Silva initially joined Duncan Lewis in November 2014. She has significant experience dealing with high value complex claims in the high court, acting for PLCs, SMEs, Pharmaceutical and Homecare Companies, unincorporated associations and high net-worth individuals. Sobashni’s areas of expertise encompass contract and tort actions and a wide range of disputes including corporate and company disputes; shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, debt recovery claims and cross-border litigation. Sobashni handles commercial matters as well as professional negligence, defamation and selected employment disputes. Prior to joining Duncan Lewis, Sobashni previously worked in the City and the West End as a commercial litigator. As a Director of Litigation, Sobashni will continue to practice from the company’s London offices.
Clinical Negligence & Personal Injury
Katarina Santos-Brazell specialises in commercial litigation, professional negligence, personal injury and clinical negligence claimant matters and predominantly practices from the company’s London offices. She joins Duncan Lewis with significant experience acting for claimants in large group actions for misrepresentation against financial institutions. She has acted for claimants in occupational disease claims including asbestos-related and industrial deafness. Further, she has successfully sought compensation for claimants involving; accidents at work, against public authorities and faulty products claims. Katarina has also represented clients for clinical negligence claims specifically against dentists and surgeons, and also acted for clients for misdiagnosis.
Consultant Solicitor, Carol van den End is an Employment law specialist and predominantly practices throughout the company’s London based offices. Carol advises individuals, charities, partnerships and companies on all aspects of employment law, specialising in contentious employment matters such as unfair and wrongful dismissal, discrimination, breach of contract, bonus claims and redundancy. She advises and provides training to avoid potential disputes in the workplace, and works with clients to settle any such disputes that may arise favourably, if appropriate. Please note that she advises on numerous matters which have a cross over with business immigration for companies including TUPE, mergers and acquisitions and employment contractual drafting. Carol also advises on Tier 2 licence companies with regards to compliance with employment and anti-discrimination regulation.
