The parents of a baby who died as a result of starvation have been charged with murder.
The Mail on Sunday reports that police arrested Brian Kandare, 32, and his wife Precious, 36, at their home in Park Village, Wolverhampton, after their nine-month old daughter Rebecca died as a result of severe malnourishment in January.
The baby was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton after developing pneumonia. She was found to be severely malnourished and suffering from rickets. At the time of Rebecca’s death, Wolverhampton City Council said that she was not known to social services.
The couple were arrested and bailed following her death. On Friday (12/09/14), West Midlands Police announced that they had been charged with the baby’s murder.
They appeared in court on Saturday and were remanded in custody. The couple are due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday.
