Krina Parmar and Emily Rand shortlisted at this year's Leicestershire Law Society Awards 2026 (17 April 2026)

Duncan Lewis Solicitors is pleased to announce that two members of its Family and Child Care department have been shortlisted as finalists at this year's Leicestershire Law Society Awards, the biggest year for nominations in the awards' history.

Family Law Director Krina Parmar has been shortlisted for Solicitor of the Year (above 5 years PQE), while Family Law Solicitor Emily Rand is a finalist for Junior Lawyer of the Year (Solicitor/Barrister 0–5 years PQE). The awards evening takes place on Friday 22nd May 2026 at Athena, Leicester.

Krina Parmar - Shortlisted for Solicitor of the Year

Krina Parmar is Head of Family and Child Care at Duncan Lewis Solicitors and a Recommended Lawyer in The Legal 500. She specialises in high-risk and culturally complex matters including child protection, international child abduction, forced marriage and FGM, leading multi-office teams across Leicestershire and the wider Midlands.

Her notable work includes the landmark matter of SA (Declaration of Non-Recognition of Marriage), in which she helped secure an important precedent on capacity and marital recognition, as well as serious care proceedings involving sexual abuse allegations and parallel criminal investigations. Away from her caseload, Krina serves as a Family Magistrate, is a trustee of MK Act, delivers training to women's aid organisations, and contributes regularly to the Navigating Family Law podcast and the Family Law Journal.

Emily Rand - Shortlisted for Junior Lawyer of the Year

Emily Rand is a family law solicitor with approximately three years' PQE, practising across public and private children law. She handles some of the most complex matters before the courts and has already taken on a supervisory role, mentoring junior caseworkers alongside managing a demanding caseload.

A recent highlight saw Emily inherit a long-running child arrangements case and — under significant judicial pressure — draft a key statement within an hour during the fact-finding hearing. Findings were made largely in her client's favour, with the father's contact application dismissed entirely. She also undertakes pro bono work, contributes to the Navigating Family Law podcast, and has been involved in outreach initiatives including the University of Bedfordshire Family Law Clinic.
