Duncan Lewis, Child Care Solicitors, Duncan Lewis Solicitors Welcomes Back Child Care Specialist Arti Maini

Dedicated child care solicitor Arti Maini has been welcomed back to Duncan Lewis Solicitors’ Birmingham team with open arms this month after a short time broadening her skills elsewhere.

Arti likes to test herself and try new things and left Duncan Lewis in April 2021 to focus on different aspects of child care law.

She is now working as a supervisor under director Rupinder Jagdev and re-joins The legal 500 and Chambers and Partners ranked Birmingham family and child care team.

Arti said: “I decided to return because I missed everyone at Duncan Lewis. I enjoyed being part of the team in Birmingham, who had made me feel welcome and supported from the day I joined.”

Arti first joined Duncan Lewis in 2019 and has in depth knowledge of all aspects of children public law, including supervision orders, emergency protection orders, placement for adoption orders, and adoption applications.

She has dealt with a wide range of cases involving issues of domestic violence, drugs and alcohol use, sexual abuse and non-accidental injury cases, as well as representing parents and children who have educational or mental health difficulties.

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 1996, she has represented children, parents and guardians at numerous private practices in the Black Country, Staffordshire, Coventry and Warwickshire and Shropshire for over 25 years.

She said: “This area of law is tough, especially given the human emotions involved, and when the outcome can mean permanent separation. I feel strongly about human rights and try my best to ensure that my clients are fairly and justly represented, and that their voices are heard in circumstances where they might not feel able to voice them on their own.”

Arti speaks Hindi and Punjabi and is able to assist clients in these languages where appropriate. She has also been a member of the Law Society’s Children’s Panel (Children Law Accreditation) since 2001.
