Profile / Experience
I am a Solicitor in the Immigration Department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. I act for both privately funded and publicly funded (legal aid) clients in a broad range of immigration, EU, nationality, asylum and human rights matters.
I have extensive experience providing advice and assistance in all entry clearance applications/appeals in accordance with the immigration rules. In addition, I regularly assist clients with their in-country leave to remain applications, applications for settlement and citizenship. I frequently accept instructions from clients that have already received an immigration decision from the Home Office refusing their respective application, and can prepare the respective appeal/challenge and provide advocacy in the appeal proceedings in the First Tier and Upper Tier Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber and Higher Courts if necessary.
I regularly act for private clients and am able to advise individuals if and where they are eligible for legal aid funding. I have significant experience in dealing with vulnerable clients including those in detention, those suffering from complex psychological issues and victims of torture and trafficking.
Recent examples of my work include successfully defending a client's subject to deportation proceedings, making successful applications for further leave to remain and settlement as the spouse/partner of a person present and settled in the United Kingdom, applications for an extension of discretionary leave, and applications for indefinite leave to remain on the grounds of long residency.
I am accredited as a Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Scheme. This means that I have shown that I have specialist knowledge and experience in the area of Immigration law and can advise and assist publicly funded clients under the company's legal aid contract.
