Profile / Experience
I am a diligent, versatile and well-regarded criminal specialist. I have a long association with Duncan Lewis, having been a member of the firm's Criminal Defence Department since 2009. I am primarily based in our head office in Harrow and work alongside Director Rubin Italia.
As a litigator I have had exposure to work across the gamut of the criminal law. Of note, I was part of the team which represented the first defendant on the indictment in one of the largest counterfeit medicines conspiracies to be prosecuted in the UK to date. I was also the junior case-holder in the well known Waya litigation which led to a Supreme Court judgement, which in turn cast a much needed change in POCA jurisprudence.
As an advocate, I am exclusively briefed by Duncan Lewis colleagues; accepting instructions commensurate with my increasing grade. My Crown Court practice has recently yielded post-trial acquittals in a DWP prosecution concerning a high value social security fraud; an allegation of care home abuse and a nine-handed affray in which I defended the first Defendant on the indictment. In 2013, as sole instructed counsel, I defended a million pound bank insider fraud at the Old Bailey and I successfully acted in one the very first cases to be televised live in the 100 year history of the Court of Appeal.
I am a Higher Court Advocate. I was called to the Bar in in 2007 and admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2008. As such I enjoy All Proceedings Higher Rights of Audience and count myself amongst the handful of practitioners able to both address and conduct litigation in all courts and tribunals throughout the jurisdiction. I am also qualified as a duty solicitor whereby I carry Law Society accreditation enabling me to perform valuable work as the first legal point of contact for vulnerable and unrepresented clients at the police station and Magistrates' Court.
More recently I secured a favourable outcome for the German national who stood accused of stalking the musician Rita Ora, and I represented the American hedge fund financier, who was wrongly implicated in the 'Putney Bridge Pusher' investigation concerning a well-publicized instance in which a jogger pushed a female pedestrian into the path of an oncoming London bus. My client was eliminated from the investigation following concerted efforts made on his behalf, in the face of intense media interest and intrusion.
