Profile / Experience
I am a Solicitor in the Housing department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, based at Dalston. I work under the supervision and direction of Bernadette Chikwe.
I am passionate and committed to promoting social justice. I deal with a wide variety of cases under both private and legal aid funding. I am an experienced housing solicitor specialising in all aspects of landlord and tenant law. My primary areas of expertise are: homelessness, residential possession proceedings, unlawful evictions, anti-social behavior injunctions, cases involving rent arrears, protection from harassment, and risks to health and safety in property as a result of disrepair or landlord negligence. I have extensive experience with the Housing Act 1996, challenging s.184 decision, working on s.202 reviews and s.204 appeal to county court on point of law and judicial review.
In addition, I can also assist clients on disputes between neighbours and landlords and tenants. I have considerable knowledge of civil litigation matters. My areas of expertise include: housing litigation and property disputes including Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (TOLATA).
Prior to working at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, I worked in a high street firm both as a trainee solicitor and as a solicitor after completing my training contract. I worked in the housing, landlord and tenant and civil litigation section.
I have appeared on a live BBC Radio 1Xtra Talks where renters’ rights were discussed. I was also interviewed to discuss the future of renting particularly in light of the coronavirus crisis and its impacts on landlords and tenants.
I am passionate and client-focused. I speak and understand basic Dutch.
