Profile / Experience
I am a Consultant Solicitor within the Immigration Department at Duncan Lewis with over 10 years of broad experience in all aspects of Immigration, Asylum and Human Rights.
I specialise in asylum claims, appeal preparation and conducting advocacy at both the First-Tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber. I also have expertise in entry clearance matters, in particular in appealing incorrect or irrational decisions made by Entry Clearance officers.
I am committed to assisting clients who - under the Immigration Rules and Article 8 of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) - are entitled to apply for leave to remain in the UK. I frequently assist and represent some of the most vulnerable members of the community and ensure that their matters are dealt with in a professional and compassionate manner. Although I am based in the firm's Harrow office in north-west London, I work very closely with the Afghan, Arab, Iranian, Jamaican and Pakistani communities throughout the city.
I am accredited as a Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme, which means I have demonstrated the required level of competence and specialist knowledge in Immigration and Asylum law as defined by the Law Society and enables me to advise and assist both private paying and publicly funded clients.
I also work on a voluntary basis for MTA International, a worldwide television channel, presenting a children’s programmes and have also featured on various discussion programmes.
I qualified as a solicitor in April 2006 and worked in high street practices until I joined Duncan Lewis in August 2009.
For those who struggle to communicate in English, I am fluent in Urdu.
