Legal 500

Samuel is a Recommended Lawyer in the 2022 edition of The Legal 500.

Legal 500 2022 Edition.
Immigration / Wales
I am a Solicitor in the Public Law and Immigration departments, and have began taking on work involving Actions Against the Police and look to grow and develop this field in Wales. Since October 2017 I have been accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme.

I believe that experience is the key to success so since starting to practice immigration and asylum law, I have made it a point to undertake work on complex matters. In particular I have developed a particular specialism in the following matters:
  • Asylum appeals
  • Family reunion applications
  • Spouse Visa applications
  • Deportation appeals
  • Bail applications
  • Outside of the Rules Article 8 arguments
  • ECF Applications to the Legal Aid Agency
  • Fresh claims
  • Judicial review
  • Unlawful detention
  • Challenging Dublin III removals
I maintain a devoted approach to clients, paying particular care to their individual needs and the nuances of their case; I feel that this is a critical part which is often overlooked. I ensure that I maintain a detailed knowledge of case law and the situation ‘on-the-ground’ in many countries which I believe, combined with my experience, ensures creative and positive outcomes. I will regularly take on clients who have been refused or have been told that there is no chances of success.

As a regular advocate at both the First-tier and Upper Tribunal, I have developed an adept command over legal arguments, allowing me to support clients through every step of the procedure. This has afforded me a holistic view of immigration and asylum law, often allowing me to negotiate positive settlements with the Home Office prior to any hearing taking place.

Since 2018 I have regularly provided pro-bono legal advice in support of a local charity. I believe that the protection of Human Rights is of paramount importance and strive to ensure all have access to professional advice. Duncan Lewis provides me the platform to assist those in need to the highest degree.
