Profile / Experience

I am an Accredited Police Station Legal Representative and Trainee Solicitor in the Criminal Law Department.

I appreciate and value the importance of client care and instruction during the Criminal Justice proceedings and, having a reputation for my high quality work, methodically ensure the best outcomes for my clients. This involves my eagle-eyed analysis and broad connection base with reputable experts, barristers and specialists.

I have a particular interest in challenging disclosure from the outset to increase the likelihood of a No Further Action at the Police Station where cases can be won or lost and a Discontinuance if the matter is taken to Court.

I have extensive experience in a range of criminal defence cases from public order and drug offences to sexual assault, fraud and murder. I also handle cases concerning psychoactive substances.

I have significant experience dealing with clients who have mental health illnesses and/or are classed by law as "dangerous". I deal with both private and public funded clients building a respectable rapport with clients from all different walks of life; including defending youths, experts and high profile clients with press coverage.

I am mindful and appreciate the stressful period my clients are facing when representing the most vulnerable and so I carefully guide, explain and provide clear legal advice that is understandable to all.

I have experience of handling matters at the Police Station, Magistrates and Crown Court. I proactively attend the police station, prison and/or court depending on the stage of the client's case to provide initial advice, guidance, take instructions and most importantly support them throughout their case.

As a Police Station Legal Representative I protect and advance the rights of my clients of what can potentially be the start of their case.

I speak Kurdish (Kurmanji) and instruct the necessary interpreter further to client needs.

Notable Cases

High Court
  • R v Z - Murder - "Man killed at immigration centre in Hillingdon" - Case involving a murderer who assaulted a 64 year old man to death in his cell at the Colnbrook Immigration Detention Centre who he had thought was raping his sister at the time. He had taken the synthetic drug ‘Spice’ for the first time a day before the murder. Experts confirmed that he was psychotic at the time of the murder. He pleaded Guilty to Manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. Further to several expert reports concerning his mental capacity and a section 38 hospital order, it was confirmed that he does not suffer from a mental illness but rather a disordered personality structure namely angry episodes. At sentence the learned Judge concluded that he was “dangerous” but determined not to impose a life sentence. This case demonstrates our ability to handle the most dangerous and unpredictable of clients; he was classed as dangerous by the detainees, instructed experts and the learned Judge who sentenced him. Nevertheless we were able to build a very good rapport with him during the course of his proceedings.

This case is significant due to the erratic nature and the danger of the client. He has been the topic of numerous news articles, including the Guardian’s exposure, “Man denies beating to death fellow detainee at immigration centre”. Several journalists were present at all of his hearings up until his sentence.

  • R v S - Robbery and GBH Represented our client in a case involving the robbery and GBH of a 92 year-old female in broad daylight. Client had an established diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia. This case is significant due to the public interest of such a serious offending committed by a mentally ill patient who should have remained at the John Howard Centre.

  • R v O – Possession of disguised firearm. I instructed a Senior Firearms expert to assist in reducing the charge from a s.5(a) with a mandatory 5 years to a 5(b) with no mandatory. Client successfully only received 6 months custodial rather than the mandatory 5 years.

  • R v S - Fraud by False Representation. Client was successfully acquitted.

  • R v G - Serious allegations of Witness Intimidation, Breach of Bail and Perverting the Course of Justice. Client successfully acquitted on all counts on indictment.

  • R v J & Others - £85k Fraud - Working with the Criminal Law Director on an alleged large scale fraud. Client successfully received a suspended sentence.

  • R v A & Others - Conspiracy to possess and supply Class A drugs. Client was successfully acquitted.

  • R v M - Possess a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid / gas / electrical incapacitation device /thing. Client was successfully acquitted.

  • R v C & Others – Client was charged with conspiracy to defraud namely £10,000 by receipt of the same in to her bank account and thereafter dissipating the same knowing or suspecting it to represent in whole or in part and whether directly or indirectly the proceeds of criminal property. Client was acquitted.

  • R v L & Others – Client was charged with Robbery, Theft and Common Assault. Client acquitted on all counts after running misidentification.
