Rebecca Macivor

I am a caseworker within Toufique Hossain's public law department. I joined the firm in spring 2025 and work under the supervision of solicitor Nicholas Hughes on cases relating to asylum, unlawful detention and human rights breaches - specifically assisting with judicial reviews and inquiries.

Additionally, I have experience working for small NGOs supporting asylum seekers and refugees residing in camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lesvos, Greece. This work included collecting border violence testimonies for European advocacy efforts, community outreach and the provision of humanitarian assistance.

Before working at Duncan Lewis, I studied International Development at the University of Sussex, where I achieved an Honours First Class. During my studies, I focused on international human rights protection for refugees and Indigenous Peoples. I also began learning Arabic (MSA and Levantine), in which I have basic proficiency.
