I am a Solicitor in the Family and Childcare department at Duncan Lewis. I joined Duncan Lewis in 2018.
I represent clients within all areas of family law including:
- Care proceedings
- Private children’s matters
- Financial disputes
- Non-molestation and occupation orders
I provide legal advice and have significant experience in representing parents as respondents in care proceedings seeking return of their children from the local authority. I am extremely passionate about representing parents in care proceedings. Where the concerns range from domestic violence, neglect, drug and alcohol abuse issues and mental illness right through to serious non-accidental injury cases. Often care proceedings are complex involving the local authority and the guardian. I make every effort to approach these cases with a great level of sensitivity and respect, allowing the parents to feel comfortable when discussing their case with me.
I also represent parents as both applicants and respondents in private Children Law Act proceedings including applications for child arrangement orders for contact and residence, prohibited steps orders, and specific issue orders.
I have frequently taken instructions from clients on an emergency basis in cases of domestic violence and assisted clients in obtaining Non-Molestation Injunction Orders and Occupation Orders on an ex-parte basis (without notice to the perpetrator) against the perpetrator of violence, thus protecting clients from enduring further domestic violence. I am well experienced and willing to act under extreme time pressures to ensure that my clients receive the protection that they require to ensure their health and safety is not compromised.
I am aware that many clients are not familiar with the legal process and I ensure my clients are fully advised and updated throughout the entirety of their matter. I work closely with my team under the supervision of Forida Hakim and a number of barristers to ensure we provide the best outcome possible in each case.
I am a member of the alumni where I mentor undergraduates at the University of Westminster by providing support and advice to aspiring lawyers who wish to enter the legal profession.
I represent both legally aided and private clients. I can speak Bengali and understand Urdu for those clients whose first language is not English.
