Profile / Experience

I am a Solicitor in the Immigration and Public Law department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. I joined in October 2018 and have since been proactively researching new areas of law along and always eager to tackle complex and difficult cases.

I have established a proven track record in successfully handling asylum applications and appeals by Afghan nationals fearing persecution by state and non-state agents in Afghanistan. I have established a reputation within the Afghan community in the UK which continues to grow. As such I have successfully represented a number of senior United Nations representatives and former ministers of Afghanistan. The majority of this work involving the Afghan community is legally aided and I also provided pro bono advice to members of the community.

I am dedicated to helping the most vulnerable and marginalised groups to ensure their human rights are protected and that they have access to justice. I have been involved with assisting clients who have been victims of trafficking, domestic violence, torture and sexual abuse. I have also successfully deferred client removals from the United Kingdom by way of judicial review and represent them with their deportation appeal.

I have successfully been working on a family reunification project for minors stuck in mainland Europe – particularly in Greece and in France, who are trying to reach UK-based relatives. I led a small team to Calais to assist Afghan asylum seeking minors who were homeless after being removed from the informal refugee camps in Calais and were in need of legal assistance in reunification with family members in the UK. During this process, I was able to build working relationships with the French asylum service France Terre d’Asile (FTDA) and a number of French lawyers to facilitate the reunification process. This included transferring young people into safe accommodation and supplying them with necessary legal support.
