Profile / Experience
I joined the Duncan Lewis Barnet Family & Childcare legal department in November 2016 as an experienced family solicitor, with a dedicated background representing clients that are funded by legal aid. Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 2002, I have worked exclusively in the field of Family and Childcare law and have gained considerable experience in all aspects in this area.
I hold a wide range of expertise in legal matters concerning children. In relation to my children law practice, I regularly assist with Child Arrangement Orders, where a child’s living arrangements and contact with a non-resident parent or relative needs to be determined to find the best way forward. In circumstances where there are threats for a child to be removed from a person’s care, I provide advice on a Prohibited Steps Order and also Specific Issues Orders. I advise and assist clients in matters where the Local Authority is involved with their child; this ranges from Child Protection Conferences, pre-proceedings under the Public Law Outline and Care Proceedings before the Court, where the Local Authority applies for a emergency protection, care or supervision order.
I assist clients - both adults and children - who are at risk or are victims of domestic violence by applying for injunctive protection from the courts in the form of a non-molestation order, often at very short notice.
In matters where the matrimonial relationship has broken down, I assist with both privately funded and publicly funded (legal aid) cases and can advise on divorce matters as well as any children matters that may arise from a divorce.
I am a confident advocate and aim to attend all court hearings, so as to provide a complete, seamless service to my clients. I am able to take instructions in Gujarati and Hindi fluently. Further to this, I have a working knowledge of Urdu and Punjabi. I take pride in forming an excellent relationship with my clients, working together to achieve the best possible outcomes.
