Profile / Experience
I am a Caseworker in the Immigration and Public Law departments at Duncan Lewis. I currently work with a team of solicitors, trainees and caseworkers under the supervision of Laura Smith.
I assist solicitors under the supervision of Director of Public Law, Toufique Hossain. I assist in the day-to-day case progression and client or third party correspondence on various immigration, asylum and human rights matters. This includes assisting with fresh asylum claims, asylum appeals and Judicial Reviews. Currently, the majority of my work involves working on LGBTI, Kurdish ethnicity and Sri-Lankan cases. I have experience working with very vulnerable clients who have been persecuted in their country of origin or are victims of abuse and/or trafficking.
I am accredited under the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme, meaning I have demonstrated the required level of competence and specialist knowledge in Immigration and Asylum law as defined by the Law Society. I am now working towards the Level 2 qualification which will enable me to advise and assist both private paying and publicly funded clients.
Prior to joining Duncan Lewis, I worked with several migrant focused organisations. This included working as a non-legal advocate for asylum seekers at Bristol Refugee Rights and as a destitution support caseworker at the Hackney Migrant Centre, which I continue to do part-time.
