Profile / Experience
I am a Trainee Solicitor within the Family and Child Care team at Duncan Lewis’ Luton Branch.
Since joining Duncan Lewis in September 2016, I have acquired extensive experience in representing parents and victims of domestic violence. My area of expertise includes handling domestic family law proceedings, both publicly funded by Legal Aid and privately funded clients. In relation to public law matters I have experience in acting for parents in care proceedings including emergency removal of children and special guardianship orders in favour of grandparents.
My duties consist of drafting legal documents, liaising with clients on a daily basis, and working to meet deadlines set by the relevant legal authorities. I have experience in child abduction matters at the High Court having successfully ensured that children were safeguarded and the matter was in my client's favour.
During my training I undertake advocacy at both County and Magistrates’ Courts before District Judges, this includes successful applications relating to injunctions, residence and contact applications.
I build a good rapport with my clients by attending pro bono surgeries every fortnight where I meet and assist victims of domestic abuse at Women’s Aid in Luton, Northampton, and Milton Keynes. My attendance consists of providing advice in obtaining non molestation orders, occupation orders, child arrangements applications and advice on divorce and finance matters. I am also a member of the Charity Committee at Duncan Lewis.
I am passionate about working in child care and family law and want to bring about positive change to achieve a better future for families.
