Profile / Experience
I am an Immigration Caseworker with Duncan Lewis. I am based in the Harrow office with a team of solicitors, trainees and caseworkers under the supervision of Director Jenna McKinney.
I primarily provide assistance to our immigration solicitors who have conduct of asylum, human rights and immigration cases with the support they need in relation to visiting clients in detention, seeking client instructions and providing all appropriate advice and assistance to the client at the detention centre as is required to further matters promptly and efficiently.
Before and after visiting a client in detention, I always work closely with the solicitor in terms of what is required and the subsequent follow up. Prior to the detention visit, I receive detailed instructions from the relevant instructing Solicitor in charge on what needs to be done on his or her behalf and I consider the relevant documents required to gain a full understanding of the case in order to progress the client attendance effectively to the client’s satisfaction. My role ensures that our detained clients across detention centres across England and Wales continuously receive the face to face interaction that they require whilst their immigration case is on-going.
Many of the clients I attend to are extremely vulnerable this includes, victims of torture or trafficking, those escaping persecution in their home countries, victims of domestic abuse and those with mental health problems.
