Profile / Experience
I am a Trainee Solicitor in the Immigration Department at Duncan Lewis. I joined the firm in February 2017 and am based in the Cardiff branch, working with a team of solicitors, trainees and caseworkers under the supervision of Director, Vinita Templeton.
I handle a range of immigration, asylum and human rights claims for foreign nationals from across the work and I carry out my own advocacy and represent clients in their appeal hearings at the First-tier Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber. I handle both publicly and privately funded matters and assist and advise vulnerable and marginalised clients including adult asylum-seekers and unaccompanied asylum seeking children.
I am accredited as a Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Scheme (IAAS). This means that I have shown that I have specialist knowledge and experience in the area of Immigration law and can advise and assist publicly funded clients under the company's legal aid contract. I regularly advise my clients as to whether or not they would be eligible for legal aid based on their financial situation and legal issues at hand. I also hold a full Disclosure and Barring Service check, which allows me to work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
I speak German and understand French, allowing me to communicate with those who may not be able to liaise effectively in English.
