A woman who had cut-price cosmetic surgery in Prague to lift her buttocks says she was left unable to sit down following surgery as her coccyx – tailbone – was left exposed after the operation.

The Daily Mail reports that 36-year-old Heidi Faulkner from Hertfordshire saved up for a buttock lift after losing weight using a gastric band. Ms Faulkner slimmed down by half her weight from 16st to 8st.

The weight loss, however, left her with excess skin. She had already had a “tummy tuck” at the Prague clinic and saved up £2,000 for her “bottom lift”.

However, when she awoke from surgery, she discovered two large diagonal incisions across her buttocks. She later discovered the surgeon had removed too much fat from her buttocks, leaving her unable to sit down.

“When I looked in the mirror, I could see these two enormous diagonal scars right across my misshapen buttocks,” said Ms Faulkner.

“I thought I must be having a nightmare or the drugs were affecting me. Then, I heard someone screaming – and realised it was me.

“It looked just like a shark had come and taken a massive bite out of my bum – it was horrific.

“They called the surgeon who said it would be fine when the swelling went down.”

However, her buttocks were left covered in scars, with loose skin and a flattened shape to her profile where too much fat had been removed from her bottom.

“I was on my own in Prague and didn’t know what to do, who to talk to. All I’d wanted was to stop feeling embarrassed about my body – now I’d made things worse,” she said.

As she had spent all her savings on the operation, Ms Faulkner contacted the Channel 5 programme Botched Up Bodies.

Harley Street surgeon Patrick Mallucci carried out further surgery involving a three-hour operation in which fat was removed from Ms Faulkner's knees and thighs and used to enhance her buttocks so that they had a more natural shape.

Although she is still unhappy about the extensive scarring she was left with after her bottom lift went wrong, she feels happier and more confident about the appearance of her buttocks.

“The pain has gone and I can sit again,” Ms Faulkner said.

“I’m doing lots of squats to build up the muscles and improve the shape.

“Aesthetically, I still wish my bum looked better – but the damage done in Prague was pretty hard to fix.”

Her story is featured on Channel 5’s Botched Up Bodies tonight (21/07/15) at 10pm.
