A 28-year-old woman has been released on police bail after a three-year-old child was found wandering alone near Chatham Station in Kent at midnight on Wednesday (15/10/14).
Local publisher Kent Online reports that a 28-year-old man was released without charge after the three-year-old girl was found alone near a small roundabout close to the station.
A witness told Kent online:
“She was tiny – she couldn't have been any more than three years’ old. She had short, blondish hair and was wear pink clothes that looked like PJs.
“A man was holding her in his arms and was on his mobile. My taxi driver said they'd found her on her own near the roundabout and the police were on their way.”
A police spokesman said:
“Kent Police was called at 12.11am on Wednesday, October 15 to a report of concern for the welfare of a child found in the Railway Street area of Chatham. The child is safe and well.”
The woman has been bailed until 30 October while police carry out further enquiries.
