Duncan Lewis, Legal News Solicitors, Wolverhampton Council stages first Housing Fair

City of Wolverhampton Council is to stage its first Housing Fair on Sunday 2 April at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

The council says the Housing Fair will provide a first ever opportunity for potential purchasers to talk to a range of new house builders in the city.

They will also have a first view of new plans for “homes you will love” by council-owned housing company WV Living, with new homes being built in Wednesfield, Ashmore Park, Bilston and Ettingshall.

Visitors to the fair will be able to find out about buying a new home – including low-cost options.

The council says that more than 20 exhibitors – including house builders, private landlords, mortgage advisers, estate agents and registered housing providers – will be attending the Housing Fair.

City of Wolverhampton Council's Rent with Confidence, Affordable Warmth, and planning teams will also be on hand to give advice to homebuyers – while WV Living is sponsoring the fair.

Help and advice will be available to first-time buyers, as well as for those downsizing and homeowners wishing to improve their properties, or who are renting privately.

House builders offering opportunities to first-time buyers will be available to discuss shared ownership and Help to Buy schemes – and there will be experts on hand, offering advice on obtaining a mortgage and general budgeting advice.

Attendees will be able to meet private landlords and find out about the city's Rent with Confidence scheme – as well as housing options for the over-50s, advice from planners about home improvements, and how to cut utility bills with energy efficiency measures.

Cabinet Member for City Housing and Assets, Councillor Peter Bilson, said:

“If you are looking to find the right home in the City of Wolverhampton, then come along to this free event and speak directly to the people who can help you.

“Supporting residents into housing, jobs – and improving the health and wellbeing of local people – are top priorities for the city. The Housing Fair is a great addition to our Residents Week offer."

This year's City of Wolverhampton Residents Week runs from Saturday 1 April to Friday 7 April.
