The Health and Safety Executive has prosecuted a wiring manufacturer, after a worker sustained serious injuries after being caught in machinery.
In July 2014, the unnamed employee was cleaning the base track of an unguarded automatic palletising line, when the reel loading arm activated. It caught the operator at waist level, crushing him onto the empty pallet and causing serious injury to his pelvis.
On Tuesday, 1 September, 2015 at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court, Amnack Limited – trading as Doncaster Cables – of Millfield Industrial Estate, Arksey Lane, Bentley in Doncaster was fined a total of £7,500 and ordered to pay costs of £2,673 for breaching Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
