A 23-year-old man has been released from hospital and immediately detained under the Mental Health Act, after both his parents were found dead at their home in Solihull, West Midlands.

The Birmingham Mail reports that the bodies of Pin Chang, 58, and his 50-year-old wife Quoi Chang were discovered at their home in Hermitage Road, Solihull by the emergency services in the early hours of 7 July.

Their 23-year-old son was detained in hospital following the attack, after he was found with serious injuries.

He was held under police guard while in hospital and will now undergo further psychiatric assessment.

Detective Inspector Martin Slevin said, however, that police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder of Mr and Mrs Chang.

“The arrested man remains in a secure facility, but has been deemed unfit for questioning at this time,” said DI Slevin.

“We continue to investigate the circumstances around these tragic deaths – however, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murders.

“The couple’s family continues to be supported by specialist family liaison officers at this time,” he added.

It is reported that police and an ambulance crew had visited the family’s home 45 minutes before the attack but police has left at 4.48am and ambulance crews at 5.06am.

However, it was just 11 minutes before a second 999 call was received at 5.17am.

Ambulance crews arrived back at the house at 5.26am – followed the police at 5.33am – and found Mr and Mrs Chang with fatal stab wounds and their son seriously injured.
