Salon owner prosecuted for offering unlicensed treatments (6 April 2016)

The owner of a unisex beauty salon in west London has been prosecuted for offering unlicensed treatments.
Danny Lewis of Danny & Guy had received warnings from Hounslow Council about the treatments offered at the salon, but continued supplying the services to customers, including ear piercing, facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, without having a licence.
The council had visited the salon on Vicarage Farm Road in Hounslow and asked that he stopped advertising the unlicensed services.
At Feltham Magistrates’ Court, Lewis was fined £200 for advertising ear piercing and £115 for advertising other treatments, as well as a victim surcharge of £20. He was also ordered to pay the council’s costs of £500 –
a total penalty of £835.
Lewis was given the reduced fee after pleading guilty early to two charges under Section 14 (1) of the London Local Authorities Act 1991 (Part II Special Treatments) at Feltham Magistrates Court on March 7.
