Greater Manchester Police and the family of a Bolton mother murdered in 2008 have launched a fresh appeal to the public to come forward with information as to the identity and the whereabouts of the killer. Sarah Melia, 34, was found dead in her Horwich home in January 2008. Her body was discovered by her 15-year-old daughter. A man was later acquitted of the murder at Manchester Crown Court.
Ms. Melia’s mother, Marion Kitchen, has urged the public to help them to find the killer, adding that the pain she felt over Ms. Melia’s murder was the same as it was on the day she was killed. A post-mortem examination revealed that Ms. Melia died from stab wounds. Ms. Melia left behind a daughter, now 19, and a son, now 14. The weapon used to kill Ms. Melia was discovered on the roof of a property extension in close proximity to Ms. Melia’s own home.
Martin Bottomley, of Greater Manchester Police, has appealed to those who know who killed Ms. Melia, or have suspicions as to who may have killed her, to provide him with the information required to help solve the case.
