Lincoln City Council is asking for public feedback on new proposals for developing the Lincoln Western Growth Corridor.

Lincoln Western Growth Corridor is located close to the city centre – the council says development represents an opportunity to create an attractive place for people to live and work and the proposals will seek to get outline planning permission for up to 3,200 homes, as well as a local centre with retail and commercial units and a new primary school.

There will also be a commercial employment area of up to 20 hectares, a sport and leisure complex with a new stadium, health and leisure facilities as well as an hotel and food and drink provision.

The site covers 240 hectares and is located to the north of Skellingthorpe Road, Lincoln.

Lincoln City Council’s Strategic Director of Major Developments, Kate Ellis, said:

“An initial consultation event on 28 June attracted over 70 visitors – and we gained some valuable feedback during the two sessions.

“This is start of a consultation process where there will be a range of events for people to air their views and give us ideas.

“Our intention is to submit outline planning permission for the Western Growth Corridor along with detailed junction designs in October this year.

“We hope that on site work will begin by late 2018 – it will be phased project, with key elements taking shape over the next 20 to 25 years.”

The council says the public consultation runs until 18 September 2017.
