The case of Ms Carole Waugh the missing oil executive has had a major breakthrough when the police investigating have found a body in a lock up garage in London, Scotland Yard had said.
The police discovered the body in the garage in Lime Court, New Malden, south west London yesterday as the result of police enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector John McFarlane, said on Wednesday that they had reason to believe that the missing millionairess has not been seen alive since April 16.
Police were awaiting formal identification, which would be carried out this afternoon at Kingston Mortuary.
Police launched an extensive hunt for the oil executive, who may also have worked as an escort, after her family last saw her in April.
On Wednesday, detectives confirmed that the disappearance of Carole Waugh was being treated as a murder investigation.
It follows the further arrest on the same day of a 47-year-old man on suspicion of her murder. The man was previously arrested on Tuesday 31 July at Luton Airport, where he was an incoming passenger, on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud, and on suspicion of kidnap.
He was still in the custody of the police a south London police station. A warrant of further detention was granted at Croydon Magistrates Court yesterday.
Since her disappearance, Miss Waugh's bank accounts have been plundered, with thousands of pounds worth of illegal transactions made in her name.
Miss Waugh, 50, originally from Durham, has not been seen by her family since mid-April and concerns for her safety grew after a fraudster tried to sell her central London flat by posing as her brother.
She was believed to have been seen alive for the last time in central London on 4 May 2012 which was unconfirmed and police now believe that she has not been seen alive since 16 April.
Following Ms Waugh's disappearance, there have been a number of fraudulent transactions associated with Ms Waugh's bank account and until now 10 people have been arrested in connection with the investigation. A number of her personal possessions currently cannot be located.
The case was initially treated as a missing persons investigation and has now moved to a murder investigation said DCI John McFarlane.
He said that he could not give any further details about the nature of the new information currently but said Carole was not seen alive since April 16.
'In addition to a number of fraudulent transactions associated with Carole's bank account there are also a number of her personal possessions that currently cannot be located. The police has released images of items which were part of Carole’s personal possessions to get any information by public.
