Merseyside Council has said that its latest road safety enforcement operations and engagement events have resulted in 320 road traffic offences being enforced.

Merseyside Road Safety Partnership’s Safer Roads Problem Solving Team has been working in partnership with all the Local Authority Road Safety and Licensing Teams on Merseyside.

The Road Safety Teams have engaged with more than 700 road users across Merseyside, offering road safety advice on various issues, such as child car seats, seat belts, mobile phones, excessive speed and information to cyclists.

In addition, a total of 180 taxis were successfully stopped to be checked by the Licensing Teams for taxi licensing offences, such as failing to display taxi license badges as required – the taxi checks resulted in 100 taxi licensing offences.

Rebecca Power from Merseyside’s Road Safety Partnership said:

“Our Partners are committed to working together to improve road safety, creating safer communities for all our residents and visitors. They are pleased with the work completed so far by the Safer Roads Problem Solving Team.”

Sergeant Ian McPhail from the Merseyside Road Safety Partnership’s Safer Roads Problem Solving Team added:

“The team are looking forward to providing a consistent approach across Merseyside and with its Partners, addressing and reducing the number of those killed and seriously injured.”
