Duncan Lewis, Legal News Solicitors, Man sustains head injury after being kicked unconscious by cow

The Midlands Air Ambulance was called to attend an incident on Wednesday (04/02/15) in which a man had been kicked unconscious by livestock in Bridgnorth in Shropshire and sustained a head injury.

Online publisher Dash24.com reports that the man was attacked by a cow and was being cared for by his wife and a colleague when the West Midlands Ambulance Service attended.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service despatched a community first responder, an ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance with a trauma doctor on board after receiving an emergency call.

It is believed the man had already regained consciousness by the time emergency crews arrived at the scene. He was transferred to hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said:

“When ambulance staff arrived they found a man – believed to be in his 60s – who had reportedly been kicked by a cow.

“He was being looked after by his wife and colleague, who said he had initially been knocked unconscious following the incident.

“By the time the air ambulance arrived the man had thankfully regained consciousness.

“The MERIT doctor and ambulance staff assessed the man and suspected he had sustained a head injury.

“They carefully immobilised him with a neck collar and spinal board before he was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham – a regional trauma centre – for further treatment.”
