Bolton Crown Court has jailed a drugs gang operating from old warehouses, which supplied drugs worth more than £3 million via a website called Wide Mouth Frogs.

Manchester Evening News reports that former accountant Paula White, 46, and her former civil partner Nyetta Hymanson, 64, used the website to provide an “Amazon-style delivery service” to drug users across the globe.

A police investigation was launched by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, Titan, when police were alerted to “a flood of drugs and illnesses” on the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands in 2012.

Customs officers had intercepted packages ordered through the gang’s website and imported via the postal system.

The website had 18,500 registered customers – and police said there were more than 90,000 sales of products across the globe. However, it is reported that drugs bought from the site had been linked to at least one death – and dozens more fell ill after taking products they bought.

The site offered up to 35 different drugs for sale – advertising them as legal products and offering a range of “enhanced stimulants”.

Police bought packages from the website for chemical testing and found that 77% contained illegal class B drugs in the same group as amphetamine and cannabis.

Deliveries were then traced back to Drake Mill on Bloomfield Road in Farnworth, Bolton in Lancashire – dubbed “Area 51” by employees of the website, after a US Air base in Nevada renowned for UFO conspiracy theories.

When police officers raided the premises, they discovered “kilos and kilos” of drugs – and tablets and powders were found to contain banned substances, including the class B stimulant Mephedrone, also called “M-Cat” or “Meow Meow”.

At Bolton Crown Court on Friday (05/06/15), Paula White was jailed for nine years, after admitting conspiracy to supply class B drugs. She pleaded guilty on the basis that the business started legitimately, but criminality began in January 2011.

Nyetta Hymanson of Circular Road in Prestwich received a four-year sentence, after being found guilty of the same charge.

The organisation had also employed around a dozen staff.

Rudie Chiu, 26, of Hornbeam Way in Levenshulme had designed and run the Wide Mouth Frogs website and six similar sites operated. He was found guilty of conspiracy to sell class B drugs and was given a two-year suspended sentence.

Sheena Jessop, 47, of Grants Lane in Ramsbottom was also found guilty of the same charge and sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for two years.

Paula White’s brother – Christian White, 39, of Nelson Street in Salford –
and Michaela Doyle, 44, of Croft Street in Salford – were also found guilty of conspiracy to supply class B drugs.

White had manufactured and delivered the drugs from the factory and was jailed for four years – and Doyle was jailed for one year, suspended for two years.

Aniello Della-Croce, 30, of Bowker Vale Gardens in Crumpsall was also found guilty of conspiracy to supply class B drugs and was given an 18-month sentence, suspended for two years.

Judge Peter Davies warned of the potential dangers of the drugs sold and said:

“It was sophisticated, professional and operated on an industrial scale. The scale was vast.”
