A new scheme in Lincolnshire is offering eligible homeowners or tenants the opportunity to have a central heating system installed for free, if their property has never had a heating system fitted.
South Kesteven Council says that anyone living with expensive and inefficient heating methods like solid fuel open fires or portable room heaters could have a new heating system installed, if they meet the eligibility criteria.
To qualify, homeowners or rental tenants must be in receipt of at least one of a range of qualifying benefits, such as state Pension Credit and Child Tax Credit and have an income of £16,010 or less.
The council says that the heating system will be installed as a result of government funding made available to install central heating, where none exists.
Applicants must be homeowners, or rent from a private landlord with the owner's permission to do the work.
Funding is for a limited time and subject to availability, entitlement checks and a technical home survey, says the council.
