A lesbian who trapped a female friend in her home and sexually assaulted her has been spared jail, despite breaching a restraining order by text messaging her victim.

The Daily Mail reports that Jesamine Hearsum, 32, stripped her female friend naked and committed a serious sexual assault on her in an hour-long attack, after trapping her at her home. The court heard that her friend – who had a boyfriend – had refused to have sex with her.

In November 2014, Hearsum pleaded guilty to false imprisonment, sexual assault, assault by beating and harassment. The court heard she had tried to coax her victim into bed – and had throttled her and threatened her with a knife.

The court handed her a two-year suspended jail sentence and imposed a three-year restraining order on Hearsum, prohibiting her from contacting or seeing her friend. She was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years.

However, just weeks after being sentenced, Hearsum began sending text messages to her victim – at first these were apologetic, but the messages then became threatening.

At first, her victim did not report the messages to the police, as she did not wish to be responsible for sending Hearsum to prison.

Hearsum continued to goad her victim, however – and told her to call the police, saying she was “not in the right place” for them to arrest her.

However, days later police officers did arrest her and at Gloucester Crown Court, Hearsum admitted two charges of breaching the restraining order.

However the court decided not to jail her if she “behaved herself” until sentencing on 15 June.
