Knife amnesty across Surrey until 30 January (23 January 2017)

Surrey Police Force has launched an initiative to encourage those who own knives to give them up anonymously, in a bid to tackle knife crime across the county.
The ‘save a life, surrender your knife’ initiative is part of a national campaign to address knife crime.
All knives surrendered as part of the amnesty – which will run until Monday, 30 January – will be given to the British Ironwork Centre and will be used to create a 20-foot tall angel sculpture, in memory of those whose lives have been lost to knife crime.
Surrey Police say that knife bins are located at police stations in Guildford, Staines, Reigate and Woking, to enable knife owners to give up their weapons safely and without fear of prosecution.
The force is encouraging people to recognise that carrying a knife does not provide protection – a weapon can be used inadvertently in the heat of the moment, as well as being turned against the owner with life changing results, says Surrey Police.
