Ethem Ethemsoy, 26, of Elmer Close, Enfield, an immigration officer was sentenced to a six month suspended jail sentence when the City of Westminster Magistrates Court found him guilty of conning two clients of £1,300, he charged for providing faulty immigration advice and services.
The Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner who got information of his wrong doings in August last year, investigated the allegations against him and found about the faulty immigration service’s he was providing to clients.
During the investigations it emerged that Ethemsoy had received £1,300 from two clients, for services which he did not complete. He had failed to submit applications to the United Kingdom Border Agency on their behalf.
Ethemsoy was found guilty of two counts and was given three month jail sentences for each count and will run concurrently and be suspended for 18 months.
He has been ordered to undergo 200 hours of unpaid work and was also ordered to pay £1,250 in compensation, plus £2,300 in prosecution costs.
Immigration Services Commissioner Suzanne McCarthy said that Ethemsoy had chosen to continue operating outside the law and without regard for the protection of his clients.
And that she was delighted that the outcome the case, would work as a deterrent to other people who would go out of their legal boundaries and consider providing immigration advice against the law.
