Gloucester City Council has agreed to work closely with local agencies, community groups and Gloucester City Homes to use all available powers to step up enforcement to prosecute those found fly tipping.
The council took the decision to increase enforcement against fly tippers at a full council meeting – and measures include calling on the public to help tackle the problem of fly tippers across Gloucester.
The newly appointed Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Richard Cook, said after the full council meeting:
"We take fly tipping very seriously – and we will look at all options to prevent it in future, but we must help communities have pride in their area and to help themselves.
"We'd be very pleased to hear from any member of the public who witnesses fly tipping.
“They should report it at heretohelp@gloucester.gov.uk – or by calling 01452 396396, so that we can do our best to bring offenders to justice.”
