Experts inundate government with positive immigration evidence (16 January 2014)

According to officials, the prime minister has 'indefinitely' shelved a report that features overwhelming evidence about the benefits of immigration to the UK economy because it failed to fit his agenda regarding EU migration cuts.
The report, which was commissioned by Theresa May, was set to be published during the final quarter of 2013. However, it was allegedly suppressed by David Cameron because the experts supplied evidence that admitted freedom of movement was positive for Britain.
The latest news comes just days after the Office for Budget Responsibility also claimed that Britain's budget deficit was unlikely to improve if the coalition government pushed through its planned immigration cap.
OBR chairperson Robert Chote told MPs on Wednesday: “Because immigrants are more likely to be working age, they're more likely to be paying taxes and less likely to have relatively large sums of money spent on them for education, for long term care, for healthcare, for pension expenditure.”
A Downing Street spokesperson refused to confirm that the 'impact of EU migration' report had been canned and revealed that it was “ongoing” and “will be published when it is ready.” George Osbourne is set to address Lib Dem eurosecptic groups later this week, as he continues to feel the pressure of those that want the government to implement free movement restrictions within the EU.
