A bus driver has instigated a compensation claim lawsuit for £75,000 following injuring his back at work. Robert Young has launched a claim against Lothian Buses following having suffered from “whiplash-style” injuries after a combined table and chair unit threw him and his colleague on to a hard, concrete floor. The bus driver has launched legal action against his employer, claiming that the incident had caused him severe suffering. The 54-year-old claimed to have experienced chronic back pain following the incident, needing regular steroid injections and physiotherapy sessions.
Lawyers defending Lothian Buses have rubbished the bus driver’s claims. They claimed that Mr. Young was already experiencing back pain before he fell from the table and chair unit; they noted that Mr. Young’s attendance record was poor before the incident. Lothian Buses’ solicitors claimed that Mr. Young suffered from other health issues unrelated to the injuries he claimed to have suffered from following the fall. They claimed that Mr. Young was “chronically obese”.
Both Mr. Young and Lothian buses confirmed that the lawsuit was “on-going” but failed to comment on the case. It is unclear whether Mr. Young remains in employment with Lothian Buses. Mr. Young’s compensation claim is one of several claims launched against Lothian Buses of late.
Duncan Lewis’ personal injury solicitors may be able to claim compensation for clients who have suffered from accidents at work. The department can advise clients on whether to claim general or special damages or both. In the most serious of compensation claim cases, the team may be able to recover damages relating to future loss of income and on-going and future healthcare.
