Bromley Council’s Adoption Service is holding an information event today (19/10/15) to celebrate National Adoption Week from 19-25 October.

The event is designed to help prospective adopters find out more from the council’s professional adoption team.

The council says there are already children in Bromley who need loving adoptive families – in particular, groups of brothers and sisters and older children are waiting to be placed.

Bromley Council wants to help as many people as possible who are interested in starting their own adoptive families get the information they need about adopting in Bromley.

The drop-in event at Bromley Central Library on Monday, 19 October from 12-2pm will help people find answers, dispel myths about adoption – and help those interested in adopting a child or children decide whether to move towards the next stage of the process.

Bromley Council’s Executive Member for Care Services, Councillor Robert Evans said:

“The theme of National Adoption Week is ‘Too Old at 4’.

“We recognise the needs of older children in particular, who are just waiting for loving families to look after them.

“In Bromley, the process to adopt can take just six months – meaning children don’t have to wait too long, as long as the right would-be adopters are available.

“This event will help people decide if adoption is for them – so if you want to find out more, please drop by.”
