Bexley Council has secured external funding of £25,000 for a digital project to help local families.

The project aims to transform the council’s services for families – and is the result of a successful bid by the council to the Local Government Association (LGA).

The LGA invited bids to a new fund designed to support IT-based projects that support the integration of health and social care, welfare reform and troubled families.

Bexley Council's successful bid will help finance a data analytics system to link the council's existing Employment and Skills Management Information System, housing, and troubled families' data.

This will help the council’s work of intervening early to tackle financial exclusion – and as well as improving life for the families involved, it will deliver both short- and longer-term savings for taxpayers.

The bid was one of only 20 winning schemes chosen from 111 bids – and all the chosen solutions can be re-used by other councils.

Bexley Council's Acting Chief Executive Paul Moore said:

“This is just one example of the work that is going on across the council to improve services for local people and save public money.

“It's also further evidence of our success in securing external funding that will help our residents.”
