Profile / Experience
I am a Trainee Solicitor in the Child Care department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. I work alongside a team of solicitors, trainee solicitors and other caseworkers under the supervision of director, Sophie Fretten.
My role involves assisting and progressing all elements of case management in respect of child care, family and international family law matters.
My caseload tends to have a particular emphasis upon working alongside parents whereby there is involvement of the local authority. I have experience within all aspects of local authority involvement including child protection matters, public law outline matters and care proceedings. My experience working for a local authority enables me to understand the reality of this involvement. I find this can be helpful when advising parents as well as on a strategic level when progressing matters.
My caseload also includes assisting parents with private law disputes concerning family and children related issues.
I regularly provide and facilitate pro bono legal assistance and I enjoy working in collaboration with external organisations.
I come from a psychology background and prior to working in the legal field, I assisted vulnerable adults and children with a particular emphasis upon emotional wellbeing. Therefore I am able to utilise my holistic understanding of these difficulties and sensitively work with vulnerable individuals during highly emotive and challenging circumstances. I believe that this can assist to achieve the most positive outcome for our clients.
