Profile / Experience

I am a Consultant Solicitor in the Immigration and Crime Departments at Duncan Lewis; I practice from the company’s Leicester office and act for the clients across the Midlands.

I have specialised in a broad spectrum of immigration law for several years, and as a result I have built up a wealth of expertise in assisting both privately funded and publicly funded (legal aid) clients in their applications and tribunal appeals in relation to private immigration, European economic area matters, asylum, human rights law and nationality law.

I also possess sound knowledge in criminal defence matters. I am accredited by the Law Society as a Criminal Defence Duty Solicitor and I represents and advise clients at the Magistrates’ Court and Youth Court. I have experience in defending various types of charges, including but not limited to serious violent crime, rape, serious assault, perverting the course of justice, robbery and burglary.

Notable Cases

High Court
  • R v Umber Farrouq & Others - 2014 - Our client was accused of three separate charges of engaging sexual activity with a minor. Following a two week trial at Stafford Crown Court our client was the only defendant out of six to be completely acquitted.

  • R v Shah & Others - Operation Keats 2013 - Police investigation into the handling of stolen goods in shops within the Normanton, Derby area, where it had been alleged that the accused had been selling stolen mobile phones and laptops within their shops. After an abuse of process argument all charges had been dropped against our client.

  • R v Naqib Mohammed- 2014 - We successfully defended our client who was charged for Robbery for over £5000 at the William Hill Bookies. He was acquitted on the first day of the trial due discrepancies of his identification and the Prosecution offered no further evidence.
