Profile / Experience
I am a Solicitor working in Immigration and Public law at Duncan Lewis. I specialise in all aspects of immigration, EU, nationality, asylum and human rights with both detained and non-detained clients.
I specialise in representing both privately funded and publicly funded (legal aid) clients in high profile or complex immigration and asylum appeals at the First and Upper Tier Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber. Over recent years I have conducted a number of asylum related country guidance cases which have become authoritative guidance for Tribunals when determining risk of persecution upon return.
Further, I challenge unlawful immigration decisions by way of judicial review at the High Court in matters relating to, removal or deportation from the UK, the decision to detain a vulnerable individual under the Immigration Acts, immigration visa refusals and for unreasonable delays in applications being processed. I have a particular specialism in challenging the detention of vulnerable clients and have achieved success securing their release and awards of damages for the client
I regularly act for victims of torture, trafficking or PTSD in their applications and appeals for international protection or release from immigration detention. I currently also supervise a team of caseworkers in the company’s Croydon office, all dedicated to representing the most vulnerable people in society.
I am accredited as a Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Scheme. This means that I have shown that I have specialist knowledge and experience in the area of Immigration law and can advise and assist publicly funded clients under the company's legal aid contract.
