Profile / Experience
I am a Solicitor in the Immigration & Public Law Department at Duncan Lewis and I predominantly practice throughout the Croydon and South London area.
I act for both publicly and privately funded clients, and supervise a team that assist, in a broad spectrum of immigration, asylum, human rights and nationality matters including family life applications, entry clearance applications, challenges against removal/deportation and claims for international protection. I also assists clients with challenges to the Home Office by way of Judicial Review. The significant majority of my client base are extremely vulnerable funded through legal aid funding. I have much experience acting for victims of torture, PTSD and trafficking. I hold an enhanced DBS which permits me to represent unaccompanied asylum seeking children. I currently deal with a number of unaccompanied children, assisting them with asylum cases, appeals and extension of leave to remain.
In addition to assisting in all manner of applications, if and where refused, I have extensive advocacy and appeal preparation experience. I represent my clients in the First and Upper Tier Tribunal of the Immigration Chambers in tribunals across London and the South East. I have had a large amount of successful appeals particularly for victims of human trafficking from Albania and unaccompanied children from Afghanistan all of which resulted in grants of asylum.
In addition to being available to advise and assist from our company’s Croydon offices, I also attend to clients detained in immigration detention centres across England. I am experienced in dealing with a wide range of detained asylum casework cases including cases based on sexuality, political opinion, religion and land disputes. When acting for detained clients, I am always looking to challenge the decision to detain and regularly pursue immigration bail applications or unlawful detention claims where it is in my client’s best interests to do so.
I am a Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme, which allows me to provide specialist legal help for publicly funded work under the firm's legal aid franchise . Alongside this I also practice housing law, assisting clients with homelessness applications, reviews and disrepair claims.
