Profile / Experience
I work as a Consultant Solicitor in the Family and Child Care department at Duncan Lewis.
I represent both publicly funded and privately funded individuals in all aspects of Family and Childcare matters. I have experience of undertaking extensive case work on wardship applications and I have conducted advocacy in non-molestation and children act matters, in addition to advocacy in case management, Fact-Finding and Final Hearings.
Prior to my Family and Child Care work, I gained experience in Criminal law where I represented clients who had been charged with serious crimes including murder, assaults and sexual offences. During this time I was also a police representative and built up a firm client base. I advised clients at the police station as to the strengths and weaknesses of their case and their options in interview at the police station. I undertook complex casework on a range of cases, developed a strong relationship with counsel and conducted prison visits on a regular basis.
Mixing my experience in Family, Child Care and Criminal Law, I have conducted several Care Proceeding matters from my existing criminal clients. I have prepared these cases under supervision, worked closely with counsel and attended court. I have represented clients at Legal Planning Meetings and Child Protection Conferences and advised them extensively as to the procedure in Care Proceedings undertaken by the Local Authority.
