Profile / Experience
I am an experienced caseworker within the Child Care department at Duncan Lewis, working on public and private law children matters. I am based in the Shepherds Bush office and joined the firm in May 2018.
I work in a team of solicitors, trainee solicitors and caseworkers and assist with the day-to-day progression of children law matters and work under the close supervision of Director, Laila Bhunnoo.
My typical day-to-day work includes advising and assisting clients in respect of local authority involvement with their children. I attend Child Protection Conferences and Public Law Outline meetings with clients to represent their interests as well as advise my clients about social service involvement. I also advise clients about working with the local authority to try and prevent the local authority taking matters further and potentially taking the matter to court.
I am also experienced in advising parents in regarding their children and care proceedings. I can clearly explain to parents the court process and advise them throughout the duration of the 26 weeks that are typically allocated to care proceeding matters. I have particular expertise in dealing with vulnerable people including victims of domestic violence. I have experience in dealing with private law children matters and have assisted client's with section 8 orders including: child arrangements, prohibited steps and specific issue orders.
Recently, I have started representing clients on applications for non-molestation orders. I advise and assist these clients and help them obtain these protective injunctions in order to keep themselves and potentially their children safe from harm or injury.
