Profile / Experience
I am a Caseworker in the Child Care Department at Duncan Lewis, based in the firm's Dalston office. I work alongside a team of solicitors, trainees, legal executives, and caseworkers under the supervision of Director, Emine Mehmet.
I primarily assist solicitors with daily case progression and correspondence with clients on public law proceedings. I assist clients with a range of different vulnerabilities including victims of domestic violence, clients who have suffered sexual abuse and those suffering with psychological issues. I have significant experience in private care cases and finance proceedings and as a result, I am equally comfortable working with professional
clients. I also assist in representing parents in private family law proceedings to obtain residence orders, contact orders and prohibited steps orders in relation to children.
I have previous experience in immigration, commercial conveyance and family law having completed numerous work experience placements within law firm and chambers. I have appeared in front of district judges and family court magistrates in order to represent my clients in family law cases.
I have also acted as Country Court Advocate for over a year and have represented over 250 clients in the county courts at various hearings including infant approval hearings, small claim hearings to opposing summary judgments and other application hearings. In addition, I have spent time marshalling in the employment division. I have dedicated my time regularly by volunteering with National Centre for Domestic Violence as McKenzie friend and also with Personal Supports Unit.
I speak fluent Bengali and have proper understanding of other dialects of the language like Shylheti and Chittagonian. I also speak and understand Hindi and Urdu in an intermediate level.
