I am a Child Care Solicitor at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, based in the Newcastle office, and I work alongside Director Jane Wilson, with support from caseworkers Noah and Nicola. I specialise in a variety of children and family matters.
I am Children Panel Accredited, evidencing my expertise in this field, and therefore I have a wealth of experience in representing all family clients from parents to Children through their Cafcass court-appointed Guardians as well as all other family members or interveners in both private and public law proceedings. I act in both publicly funded matters and privately paid.
I represent clients in private children matters, i.e. disputes typically between parents (or other family members) such as contact and residence; specific issues such as changes in schooling, change of name, or living arrangements, including changes in location or prohibitive step actions. For example, preventing a parent from removing a child from school or taking them overseas.
I also act for clients subject to proceedings or pre-proceeding processes involving the Local Authority, providing advice and support as well as representation in meetings and court hearings. My caseload in that respect is varied and covers a wide range of family and child care matters, which include care proceedings, placement orders, deprivation of liberty orders, matters that involve adoption or fostering and child protection matters.
I am experienced in dealing with clients with a range of issues, such as victims of domestic violence, issues with mental health, substance abuse, language barriers and learning disabilities. I am passionate about ensuring that clients receive a high standard of care and feel supported in their time of need for legal assistance.
