I am a consultant solicitor at Duncan Lewis' office in Newcastle upon Tyne. I specialise in Mental Health Law, representing clients who are detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act. I deal with Mental Health Tribunal hearings and Hospital Managers appeals, as well as appearing as an advocate at planning meetings for patients both in hospital and out in the community.
I qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and joined the Law Society's Mental Health Accreditation Panel in 2010. I practised in Oxford and London before returning to my native North East.
I have represented forensic patients at Broadmoor and Rampton high secure hospitals, and I have a particular interest in representing young people with mental health conditions.
Alongside my work at Duncan Lewis, I am pursuing a doctorate in public health design at Northumbria University's School of Design. I collaborate with people caring for dementia patients to design new ways to support them in their caring roles.
