Profile / Experience
I am a Caseworker in the Public Law Department in Harrow. I work under the supervision of director Toufique Hossain and solicitor Sangeetha Vairavamoorthy.
As a caseworker my role is to assist the team of solicitors, trainees, and caseworkers with their daily caseload and the client and third party correspondence. This work covers a variety of both privately publicly funded public law matters including asylum cases, immigration, human rights matters and judicial review challenges.
I have recently volunteered with the Prisoners' Advice Service and will be working on judicial review matters that relate to prison law, immigration and trafficking.
After completing my GDL, I worked for an anti-trafficking NGO called Kranti in India. Kranti ('revolution' in Hindi) empowers girls from Mumbai's red-light district area to become agents of social change. I have also undertaken an internship at Defence for Children International (DCI) in Hebron. DCI provides legal aid to Palestinian children detained and prosecuted in the Israeli legal system, it documents human rights abuses and violations against children in the West Bank and Gaza, and it promotes the participation and empowerment of children so that they can address their own rights situation.
