I joined Duncan Lewis as a caseworker in October 2023. I assist the Court of Protection team by providing efficient case manangement and day to day correspondence for health and wellbeing cases.
I represent the team as an intial point of contact with clients, by providing a sensitive and sympathetic outlook towards understanding each individual client's needs.
My experience includes:
- Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases;
- Preparing and managing funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency;
- Attending conferences and court; and
- Preparing draft documents for clients.
I assist with cases in relation to health and welfare decisions and appeals against the disclosure and barring service (DBS), under the supervision of Director Angela Sandhal, who specialises in Public Law, Education Law and the Court of Protection.
Prior to joining the Court of Protection team, I worked for a data protection company. Dealing with subject access requests in areas such as employment, social care and housing associations. As a result, I am very experiecend with handling confidential personal data.
I am awaiting my final results for my Barrister Training Course, with integrated Masters at BPP University. My masters project focused on addressing the outweighed balance of medical experts'ingrained desire to protect P over encouraging P's autonomous decision making within the Court of Protection.
